Attention to all members and visitors of The Fight Pit - We will be closed from December 22nd to January 3rd for the Christmas Holidays, if you may have any questions, don't hesitate to call. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ November 21st - 2007 Congratulations to all our local fighters who participated in the latest "King of the Cage" at Nanaimo's Frank Crane Arena. Jason Mackie, Dan McIver, and Shawn Albrecht who all achieved impressive wins over their opponents. "Jason "the mack attack" Mackie was able to take Inderjit Basala to the ground pass guard and pound him until he gave up his back and sunk in the rear naked choke for the finish at 4:40 of round one. 2:17 was all Dan MacIver needed to take Dave Sparling out with ground and pound for a TKO ref stoppage. Sparling started off with a nice take down but MacIver was able to reverse and land thudding shots before the referee stepped in to halt the bloody contest. Shawn Albrecht was impressive using his superior stand up game to frustrate Martin Julien, and stuffing the takedown attempts when he needed to. Spectators: Adults $10, Child (6-12) $5, Under 6/Over 65 Free Weigh-in starts at 8:30am and fights begin at 10am. We will be having a dinner at Socrates in Maple Ridge at 6pm. Reservations must be made by coming into the gym. The dinner is open to all Fight Pit members only. On June 2nd the West Coast Can-Am will be hosted at BCIT, and we are proud to say that The Fight Pit will be having a group of fighters compete in multiple divisions. Fighters will be announced soon. August 11th has been chosen for The Fight Pit's 2nd Annual BBQ at Maple Ridge Spray Park, located on the North side of 232nd Street. Please bring a large dish that everyone can enjoy, drinks, a chair for yourself and anything else you think would be enjoyable outside in the sun. Everyone is welcome to come out and have fun.
